California Adventure

We spent spring break in California. The weather was beautiful! We visited Steven's brother in San Diego. He took us to some tide pools and we also saw lots of seals just down the beach.

Of course, it wouldn't be a vacation with out a trip to Disneyland. We stayed with Steven's sister Janice for a few days in Torrance and the kids LOVED going to Disneyland and being spoiled by Aunt Janice with cotton candy! We went two days in a row which was honestly overkill. By the middle of the second day, the kids were tired and just wanted to go home and play with their new tinkerbell toys.

The girls' favorite ride was actually in California Adventure in Bug's Life. I don't know what it is called, but it is kind of like the hungary caterpillar who eats a bunch of food including watermelon which is juicy and squirts you. They least liked the rollercoasters which they are now both tall enough to ride. We all rode space mountain, mattehorn, Thunder mountain, splash mountain and Star Tours...although they only liked splash mountain because the others were too fast and scary.

This is our dear friend Tresa who had her first baby three months ago. He was three months early and so is still in the special nursery down in San Diego. We HAD to go visit baby Atticus. (All of our CA friends must forgive us, since with the exception of Tresa and her miracle baby, we only had time to visit family...probably because over half of Steven's 6 siblings and his parents live in CA.)

The rest of the trip: visiting brother David and family, brother Michael and family, Great Grandma (from Alison's side) and Grandma and Grandpa.

(Michael's family, Grandma and Grandpa and us.)

(the kids with cousin Megan...which they said later was the FUNNEST part of the trip.)

(Michaela and Grandma Great)

One REALLY important pit stop...I had to take Michaela back to my old stompin' grounds of UCLA. This is a picture of her in front of the bear...GO BRUINS!!! (Brainwashing must begin while they are young.)

It was really great seeing family, we were sad there was literally no time to see friends, and we enjoyed the weather, and most of all, we enjoyed when it was all over and we could come back home. (Yes, we now realize that we call Utah home...scary!)

What a fun trip! You make me excited for when we will get to visit Cali again (in about 3-4 years!) I love the ocean pics, but I am a little surprised your family is is pants and people behind them are in swimsuits. Come on, you are from Utah, you must have been baking in long pants!

Cynthia, what you really meant to say is you were disappointed you didn't get to see us in our sexy swimsuits. Actually, Michaela was the only one in pants, we were in capris. (She was oonly wearing pants because she got dressed that morning in a cold, windy Vegas.) Actually it was about 6pm by the time we went down to the beach and it was nice out. We went to see the tide pools and seals and had already been swimming at Mark's pool for a few hours...hence we just went in our regular clothes. Hope that helps you sleep better tonight. ;-)

Looks like it was a lot of fun -- (go bruins!) hope you got a little in'n'out and diddy reese together with the beach & Disneyland!

Taylor,
didi reese was as yummy as ever. We didn't miss it. I noticed the prices had gone up from our day when a cookie was 25 cents and a sandwich a dollar. It is now 35 cents for a cookie and 1.50 for an ice cream sandwich. Then I realized it's been 10 years!!!! since I first started going there. SCARY.

looks like it was a great trip! at least you still have steven's family to see out there. it's weird that our side of the family is all gone except for Gma Rehart. you can take heart that maybe some of your kids will go to ucla and want to settle in cali one day. :)

Oooh, it looks like so much fun. I'm working on Darwin to see if we can fit in a UEA Disneyland vacation this October. I'll have to show him all these great pictures in hopes they'll help my cause.

Your pictures make me want to go back for a visit, but like you, I have no family left there. How sad!
